Bio
I’m a mixed-media artist and instructor. I combine found elements and words with traditional art and craft materials to create collages and jewelry. I also love to teach these techniques in workshops, online classes and in magazine articles—I believe that crafting, art, creativity, and the creative process are all better when shared. (Why keep creative discoveries a secret?)
I earned my degree in English from the University of Oregon. While working for Hot Off The Press, an American craft book publisher and manufacturer, I co-authored books on scrapbooking and altered books, developed product lines, taught papercrafting workshops around the world, wrote for trade and consumer craft magazines and served on the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Board of Directors.
In 2007, I moved from Portland, Oregon to Amsterdam, Netherlands and found a truly unique artistic home. Since then, I decided to focus entirely on my art and teaching, and I’ve continued to write, teach, create and exhibit my work in Europe and internationally.
I paint, stamp, ink, cut and glue happily in my very-unglamorous studio/bicycle shed behind my tiny apartment. When I’m not making art, talking about art or writing about art, I’m chasing after my small daughter or enjoying time with my husband.
