Create & Craft Demos: Cardmaker’s Dream Come True

I had loads of fun with Leonie on last Thursday’s show on Create & Craft…but I’ve come home from Peterborough with way too many leftover demos! With live TV, it’s pretty much hit and miss as to which ones you’ll 1) have time for, and 2) need to do on air. And then one needs to be prepared for kits that need more demos, and the times a PA will pop around the side of the stage when the camera is elsewhere and whisper, “have you got another demo for such-and-such?”

It all comes down to having a lot of things in one’s back pocket, so to speak—being ready to demo what’s needed, when it’s needed…and there’s just no way to know which kits will be the most popular before the show starts.

So after last Thursday’s show, it turns out I have some demos left over, plus some completed demo pieces which we did so quickly that I’m afraid people might have missed them. I hate to see the samples go to waste, so I’ll pop up a few on here over the next couple of days.

The demos here are using the Color Me papers from the Cardmaker’s Dream Come True kit and you can check it out on the Create & Craft website, where there’s also video of me and the lovely Leonie telling what’s in the kit. Enjoy!

Rub Pine Needles Distress ink (or the ink of your choice) on the paper, spritz lightly with water and blot dry.

Spritz with Glimmer Mist or other spray inks, then blot dry. A light misting will give a more mottled effect, this one has been totally saturated.

Watercolor, one of my favorite techniques for the Color Me papers because the gold embossing holds the color inside. I have a simple travel watercolor box, and used red and orange here for the flowers.

This is also with watercolor, but after I painted the color on, I spritzed it with water and blotted in a circular motion to create a very soft (probably invisible here) halo around the flower.

This piece has pink and lavender chalk rubbed onto the background, then the leaves and flower are colored with Marvy Markers (light pink on the flower) and finished with a touch of glitter glue. Yep, pretty much everything is used here!
