Photo Friday: Elapsure of Time

Sara Naumann blog photo friday elapsure sign

I wasn’t sure that “elapsure” was even a word…turns out, it’s the vocative masculine singular of “elapsūrus” in Latin. Huh.

And according to my computer’s dictionary, “elapse” means “to pass or go by, especially in a gradual, slow, or imperceptible way”. I guess that’s why it’s so often used with the notion of time.

This phrase was on a wall in a museum in Vienna, photographed last year. Now, with everything that’s happened since I took this photo, it makes me think about the notion of passing time…and when it seems to inch along and when it goes by so fast you can’t believe it. Something to ponder (or journal about!) on this rainy, stormy summer morning!

Happy Friday!
