{Project} Wednesday: Brayer Stenciling

Sara Naumann blog Studio SN Brayer stenciling

Here is today’s Studio SN card on You Tube–Part Two in my stenciling series!

This technique is reminiscent of brass rubbing or crayon rubbing—but the “rubbing” is actually done with a mini brayer. It’s super easy to do and gives you another great way to use your stencils.

I used the Garden Gate stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop, plus my Clearsnap pigment inks in Iris and Pool. The effect is not precise (at least, not in my crafty world!) but I love the soft combination of colors and the whole piece makes me think of handmade fabric. And while I did two contrasting colors, I think this same effect would be beautiful using two similar colors for a tone-on-tone effect.

The sentiment is from the Heart to Heart stamp set from Hot Off The Press.

Remember, you’ll need to do your stenciling on lightweight paper. Cardstock didn’t really work as well for me, so I used paper from my computer printer.

Hope you can come on over to Studio SN on You Tube and check out the video!

Enjoy…and happy Wednesday!
