{Project} Wednesday: Cardmaking with Embossing Plates and Powders

Today on Studio SN on You Tube: Cardmaking with Embossing Plates and Powders!

Embossing plates and powders

This technique is great for getting double-duty from your embossing plates…and from your color sprays. You can get some really varied looks, depending on the design of your embossing plate, and the type of spray you use—whether that’s a bright, bold color or something softer, like this Clearsnap spray in Bubblegum. And as I show in the video, you can also vary the embossing powder coverage to get more or less color on the resisted spray. Plus, it’s easy…and I love easy techniques that look good, too!

Cardmaking with Embossing Plates and Powders, what you need:

Labels with Dots Embossing Plate (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes)

Inside/Outside Dazzles (Hot Off The Press)

Opaque Bright White Superfine embossing powder (WOW Embossing Powder)

Stephanie Barnard Bubblegum spray (Clearsnap)

– Gold brads

– Pink paper flowers

– White, red cardstock

– Cardboard box or area to spray

– Paper towel

– Foam tape

Cardmaking with Embossing Plates and Powders, how to do it:

1. Emboss white cardstock with the Label with Dots pattern. Place the cardstock with the raised side facing you (so you can feel the bumps of the dots) and tap on your embossing inkpad. Heavy tapping will create more white area, so keep that in mind as you apply the ink.

2. Immediately sprinkle with white embossing powder. Tap off excess and heat-set.

3. Place the cardstock on a cardboard box or spraying surface and spritz with Bubblegum. Blot with paper towel.

4. Mat on white, red and whiote cardstock before gluing to the front of a red card.

5. Add the Dazzles stickers in the center of the fame. Insert gold brads in pink flowers and foam-tape to the card front.

That’s it—easy! For the video tutorial, please stop by Studio SN on You Tube to watch Cardmaking with Embossing Plates and Powders!
