{Project} Wednesday: Simple Alcohol Ink Background

Happy Wednesday!

Today I’ve got my Ranger alcohol inks out for a play—this week I’m demonstrating them on Create and Craft TV and realized it’s been a long time since I’ve worked with my alcohol ink stash. They’re great for creating quick and easy backgrounds, so I thought I’d make up a simple and fun card for you here.

Ranger alcohol ink card

Simple Alcohol Ink Background, what you need—

– Plum, Butterscotch alcohol inks (Ranger)

– Jet Black Archival ink (Ranger)

Painted Inspiration stamps (Altenew)

– Glossy white cardstock

– Teal, gray cardstock

– Gray and white check ribbon

– Old toothbrush

– Blank white card

Simple Alcohol Ink Background, how to make it—

1. Hold the Butterscotch alcohol ink dropper right above the white glossy cardstock. Gently squeeze the bottle to release single drops randomly on the cardstock. Repeat with the Plum alcohol ink.

2. Squeeze a bit of the Plum alcohol ink on a craft sheet or other palette. Use the old toothbrush to sweep up a bit of color and immediately spatter onto the cardstock. You’ll get a fine mist, as you can see in the bottom right of this picture:

3. Trim down the glossy cardstock, then mat top and bottom on teal cardstock and glue across the card front.

4. Use black ink to stamp the sentiment onto glossy card, then mat on gray and teal. Glue to the cad front. Tie a bow in check ribbon and glue to the top left corner.

Alcohol inks make such simple backgrounds, but the color really makes the design stand out. Quick, easy…and great for making in batches, too.

Happy Wednesday!
