{Project} Wednesday: Wink of Luna Block Stamping

Happy Wednesday!

This week I want to share a really easy technique for creating cool backgrounds: Block stamping with Wink of Luna. This was a technique I’d planned to share last month in my Create and Craft demos, but just ran out of time!

Wink of Luna is a waterbased pigment ink. It comes in a handy applicator that makes it easy to write, draw or… in my case—scribble. Because it’s water based, we can use it with water to create watercolor effects or to create backgrounds.

Block Stamping with Wink of Luna, what you need—

Block Stamping with Wink of Luna, how to do it—

  1. Scribble Purple and Blue Wink of Luna onto an acrylic block and spritz with water. Immediately stamp onto cardstock. Tip: The more water you use, the more your inky color will spread. Another tip? There’s no “right” size of block—mine is about 3.5″ x 4″. Try a big block for this technique or a small one, depending on the look you want. Of course you can stamp, reink and stamp again.
  2. Let the piece dry. Mat on purple, then blue card.
  3. Color the sentiment with Blue Wink of Luna, mist lightly with water and stamp on white card. Trim to a narrow strip and mount on blue cardstock. Glue across the block-stamped piece and wrap with baker’s twine. Glue to the card front. Trim the ends of the sentiment even with the edges of the card front.
  4. Stamp the flower with black on white card. Scribble blie Wink of Luna on a craft sheet and spritz with water. Use a waterbrush to color in the stamped image. When dry, color over the flower with clear Wink of Stella. Let dry, then cut out and adhere to the card front with foam tape. Add rhinestones as shown.

That’s it! Easy, right? Enjoy your Wednesday and I’ll see you again next week!
