Technique of the Month: Stamping with Pan Pastels and Versamark

Happy October!

This month, we’re stamping with PanPastels, Versamark ink and PaperArtsy stamps on Studio SN. This technique is such a great way to use those fabulous PanPastels you might have in your stash. And yes, it works with other craft decorating chalks as well. (If you’re like me, you still have that set of Craf-T Productions or Pebbles chalks from ten years ago.)

Pan Pastel and Versamark

Stamping with PanPastels and Versamark, what you need—

PanPastels: Pearlescent Yellow, Pearlescent Red, Copper (alternate card idea used Pearlescent Green)

Versamark Watermark Inkpad

PaperArtsy HP1008 EZ stamps

Ranger Jet Black Archival ink

– Matte white cardstock, teal, tan cardstock

– Self-adhesive rhinestones

– Tan gingham ribbon

– Cosmetic wedge, baby wipe, dry cloth or tissue

– Artists’ fixative or cheap aerosol hairspray

Stamping with PanPastels and Versamark, how to do it—

1. Use your finger to apply Pearlescent Yellow PanPastel to a piece of white matte cardstock.

2. Ink the feather stamp with Versamark, then stamp on the cardstock. Use your finger to apply Pearlescent Red PanPastel to the feather image. The pastel will stick to the wet ink. Note: Take care to apply with a light touch and only onto the feather.

3. Repeat to add Copper PanPastel to the feather.

4. Buff with a dry cloth or tissue.

5. Stamp the sentiment with black ink.

6. Set the PanPastel with a light misting of cheap aerosol hairspray. Let dry, then mat on teal and white cardstock.

7. Cover the card front with tan cardstock. Cut a piece of teal cardstock slightly smaller, then mat on white. Glue a 2″-wide strip of tan cardstock across the center, then glue to the card front. Add the stamped focal to the right side. Add rhinestone embellishments and a bow tied in gingham ribbon.

Easy! And if you want to watch the step-by-step video tutorial on this technique, just visit Studio SN to see the Stamping with PanPastels and Versamark segment. Enjoy!
