Welcome to Washi Tape Tuesday! Love washi tape? (Or maybe you have a stash that you want to put to use?) Then join me for tips, techniques and ideas for adding washi tape to your handmade cards!

Okay, this week’s project is not a card—but with gift-giving opportunities around the corner, I thought a little treat box might be a fun way to play with washi tape!

This little fry box is blue and black, but you could always swap out the colors for red and green for Christmas.

Washi Tape Fry Box: What you need—

Sara’s Surfaces Fry Box (Paper Wishes)

– Washi tape: Black numbers, black leaves

– Blue ink: Chambray Chalk ink (Clearsnap)

– Bubble Wrap

TB2 Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refill (Crafter’s Companion)

– Small brayer

– Craft sheet

– Rubbing alcohol

Washi Tape Fry Box: How to make it—

1. Squeeze a small amount of alcohol ink refill on your craft sheet. Spritz with rubbing alcohol and use the brayer to apply to the front and back of the flat fry box. Tip: Place scrap paper inside the box so you don’t accidentally color the inside back panel of the box.

2. Tear strips of washi tape and place on the front of the box. Ink a piece of bubble wrap with Chambray ink and press on the box. It will take a bit of time to dry on the slick surface; leave the box flat and set aside.

3. When dry, press the bottom of the box to create the fry box shape. Tie a bow in blue ribbon and glue as shown. Add tissue paper and a small gift.

Simple, isn’t it? These little boxes are also easy to make en masse for hostess gifts or to hold small treats for co-workers or as party favors.

Happy Washi Tape Tuesday!
