Washi Tape bookmark with book

I’m a book lover—as such, I can always use a bookmark or two, especially since I usually have two books (one fiction, one non-fiction) in progress, plus several magazines. And although I can happily tear out pages from bound-for-recycling books, I never, ever fold down the corner of the page to mark my place. I’m a book lover, and a bookmark lover.

So this week I sent off copies of Twenty to Make Washi Tape Cards to The New Label Project, the boutique in Amsterdam where I sell my finished cards and jewelry. I wanted to add something special to each card for each customer. A bookmark (using washi tape!) seemed like the perfect idea. So I pulled out some ATC blanks, added a few strips of washi tape and a stamped sentiment and then thought… hmmm, it needs some texture. So I embossed part of the bookcard with Darice’s Circles Interlock embossing plate. You could definitely add ribbons at the top as well—I didn’t only because I wanted a cleaner, less lumpy bookmark, something that could slip inside the book without adding a lot of bulk.

Little Washi Tape Bookmarks, what you need—

– Washi tape: Patterned and plain (MT)

– Blank ATC or cardstock—cut to any size you wish!

– Stamp: Flower Frenzy stamps (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes)

– Embossing plate: Circles Interlock (Darice)—note, any all-over pattern will work!

– Black ink

– Book—I can recommend Twenty to Make Washi Tape Cards! 😉

Little Washi Tape Bookmarks, how to make them—

1. Place three strips of washi tape diagonally across an ATC blank. Trim off excess. Note: I left a bit of space between each strip of tape.

2. Use black ink to stamp the sentiment at the bottom right.

3. Insert the cardstock into the embossing plate, aligning the bottom of the pattern with the bottom of the washi tape strip. Run through the embossing machine.

There you go—couldn’t be easier! Add a topper to your bookmark or leave as is.
