BellaCon Steampunk Workshop Recap

Hi friends! Yesterday I had such fun teaching on Day 1 of the BellaCon Virtual Event! My workshop, Steampunk Surprise, featured three projects—we had a great time in the 2-hour-long live class. Workshops began on Wednesday May 14 and go through 5pm CST on Saturday May 17.

If you’ d still like to join the event, you can! While the Swag option is sold out, you can still access the non-Swag ticket for $107.00. The workshops are recorded, so you can watch the workshop videos and demos as it suits you.

Today I used some of my leftover Steampunk Surprise papers and embellishments to make a quick bonus card for you—

First, I started by covering the card front with brown cardstock, then cut the yellow patterned paper slightly smaller than the card front.

Then, I inked around the edges of the yellow cardstock with Velvet Fawn brown dye ink and glued it to the card front.

Then, I die-cut a set of the gears from gold cardstock and used a sanding tool to give it a distressed look.

Then, I inked around the edges of the card focal with brown and glued it to the card center, and added the gears to the top corner.

I die-cut the butterfly from brown cardstock and the butterfly center from gold, glued the two together and sanded the piece, then layered it to the card front.

To finish off, I have a “hello” gold Dazzle sticker at the bottom left. Easy!

In my workshop, I demonstrated some different ways to use the butterfly dies in the die set. Here’s a look at the sampler I showed—

Some are sanded, some are layered with the coordinating wings (see the image in the center). So easy!

So if you’d like to join us for the BellaCon Virtual Event, please do! You’ll have access to my workshop, Steampunk Surprise, as well as 20+ other classes, plus demos and more. The non-Swag ticket is $107.00, which is a great value for a 4-day event with recorded and easy-access classes.

The Steampunk Surprise Class Kit (with 12″x12″ patterned cardstock, coordinating cutting dies, and gold cardstock) is still available too, at Paper Wishes.

See you at the beginning of June—I’m traveling for a couple of weeks, but look forward to summertime crafting inspiration!
