Last weekend I taught a Christmas Cardmaking workshop for the American Women’s Club here in Hamburg. One of our favorite projects was this little gift card holder. So many of us give gift cards for the holidays and birthdays, and this is a fun way to present them in a more personalized way.
The gift card holder is made with the Mini Envelope & Gift Card Holder die from Paper Wishes, and it has two dies that hold standard (credit-card-sized) gift cards.
Simply use the die to cut a piece of cardstock, like this:
I use the Hunkydory low-tack tape to hold the die in place—washi tape or masking tape works too.
Double-sided paper is great, so you can choose which pattern you want. Fold up the sides…
…then the bottom, gluing the bottom flap in place to create a pocket.
Then tuck the tab into the flap.
You can decorate as you wish! Small die cuts work perfectly.
I used a few small snowflakes and a tree die, plus a banner die with the stamp from Hero Arts. Here’s the inside of the envelope:
The other die in the pack also holds a gift card:
You can add stickers, wrap the envelope with twine or ribbon—anything goes.
So if you’re on the lookout for an easy way to present a gift card to someone special, this is a great option. It’s also a nice way to utilize those smaller pieces of beautiful paper we tend to keep. 🙂
And of course, you can use these for other types of small, flat gifts, notes, photos or recipes.
Enjoy! See you next time!
These are great gift card holders. Reminds me of the year I made a bundle of them for the Senior Companion Program so they could give them a gift card in a special envelope. And most times, we can use scraps to do this. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Very cute and festive. What paper collection are you uding? Thx! Terry
These are all made with a very old 12″x12″ Christmas paper pad called Nature’s Garden Vintage Christmas 12×12 paper pad. I did a quick internet search but can only find it in a Swedish website! But you can have a look and see, it may be available on ebay too. https://kristinasscrapbooking.se/julpyssel/julpyssel-papper/paper-pack-crafters-companion-vintage-christmas/
You’re right, Patricia—these are great for using up scraps of paper. 🙂
