Photo Friday: London Eye

Sara Naumann photo London Eye

Last weekend I headed to London with my niece, who’s visiting us here in Poland this summer.

She wanted to check out the London Eye. I admit, I’ve always sort of give the Eye a pass whenever in London, and I’m really glad we did it this time! It offers a pretty amazing view of the city—especially Westminster and Big Ben. From this photo it looks like a typical Ferris wheel but these cars are actually quite big, and enclosed. You can stand or sit in them, walk around and look out different windows to see all sides of the city. Each car fits about 12 people. We were among the first that morning and the weather and view were perfect.

This view is from the opposite side of the river. I added a bit of sepia to give it a vintage look and after I did, it really inspired me to start looking for other vintage Ferris wheel images and icons. I think there’s something so lovely about the shape and detail—the simple circle paired with the spokes have given me a little nudge of inspiration.

Here’s to trying something new in a familiar city!

Happy Friday!

  1. Of all the things I’ve ever read I had never heard of the London Eye! So once again you have taken me to a place I’ve never been and “seen” something I’ve never seen! Thanks so much! I never tire of your stories. You are very lucky to be able to go to all the places you go and do all you do. So happy for you! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures! Hugs!!
