{Project} Wednesday: Cardmaking Backgrounds with Clearsnap Izink

Today on Studio SN on You Tube: Cardmaking Backgrounds with Clearsnap Izink!

These fun little inks were new to me this summer and I’ve had such fun playing with them. Izink is an acrylic-based pigment ink, made by a French company called Aladine and distributed by Clearsnap. I love the opaque coverage and it’s permanet so it can be used to create layers, as I’ve done here with a stencil. Yet it also blends with water or alcohol. Can you see why I’ve been having such fun?

how to use izink

Cardmaking Backgrounds with Clearsnap Izink, what you need:

Izink inks: Orchid, Mimosa (Clearsnap)

Rollagraph brayer (Clearsnap)

Lattice Art Screen by Ann Butler (Clearsnap)

Black Surfacez ink (Clearsnap)

ColorBox stylus applicator (Clearsnap)

• Stamps: Heartfelt Greetings (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes)

Stick It adhesive

Wildflowers cutting die (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes)

• Glossy white cardstock

• Black, yellow cardstock

• Blank card

• Pink gingham ribbon

• Self-adhesive gemstones (yellow green)

• Palette (I used a repurposed yogurt lid)

Cardmaking Backgrounds with Clearsnap Izink, how to make it:

1. Place glossy white cardstock on surface. Shake the Orchid Izink and squeeze some drops randomly onto cardstock. Brayer to move the color around.

2. Repeat with Mimosa ink.

3. Place the Lattice stencil on the brayered background. Squeeze some Orchid Izink onto your palette, load the stylus and apply through some areas of the stencil. Remove the stencil. (It can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol.)

4. Cover the card front with yellow cardstock. Trim the Izink background to slightly smaller than the card front and mat on black. Use Surfacez ink to stamp the sentiment in the top corner. Apply Stick It adhesive to black cardstock and die-cut the flower silhouette, then glue to the cardstock. Glue the matted piece to the card front.

5. Tie a bow in gingham ribbon and glue as shown. Add self-adhesive gemstones.
