Welcome to Washi Tape Tuesday! Love washi tape? (Or maybe you have a stash that you want to put to use?) Then join me for tips, techniques and ideas for adding washi tape to your handmade cards!

You’ve probably noticed the translucency of washi tape—this is a really cool feature of the tape because it allows you to  overlap tapes to create really pretty layers. For this card, I created a plaid design with three different colors of tape. You could use patterned tapes as well.

(I even used a paper slide mount from my stash. Some of you scrapbookers will remember these!)

Washi Tape plaid card

Plaid Washi Tape Card, what you need:

– Yellow, orange, peach washi tapes (MT)

– Stamps: Simply Amazing (WOW Embossing)

– Fluorescent Pink Embossing powder (WOW Embossing)

– Embossing inkpad

– Heat tool

– Slide mount

– Paper flowers, buttons

– Cardstock: Off-white, red, pink

– Blank white card

Plaid Washi Tape Card, how to make it:

1. Place strips of washi tape vertically across a piece of off-white cardstock, then repeat to place strips horizontally, creating a plaid.

2. Mat the piece on pink, then red cardstock and glue to the card front.

3. Stamp and emboss “simply amazing” on off-white card, then place inside the white paper slide mount and glue to the card front. Glue flowers around the slide mount and add buttons in the flower centers.

Don’t have a paper slide mount? You could also simply mat the embossed piece on a square of white cardstock.

That’s it—easy Happy Washi Tape Tuesday!
