Photo Friday: In the Printer

This week I ran out of ink in my office printer. It’s no big deal—I just have to move the stuff that (somehow) piles up on top of the printer, open it up and swap out the cartridges. Usually it takes a minute or two and I’m on my way.

But this week, I had run out of several colors—so when I opened the lid, all the lights inside were flashing like a Las Vegas slot machine. It took me a little by surprise but then I thought: How cool these look! So I reached for my phone and took the photo from where I was standing, rather awkwardly to the side of the printer.

The fun thing? It takes most people a while to figure out what it it. This is something I love: When we see an item, a scene, a thing of some sort that’s actually pretty mundane and we can’t recognize it because we’re looking at it from a different perspective. Simply taking the photo from the side made it much more interesting. After all, this is what my printer inside looks like when you’re standing in front of it as you normally would:

Not quite as intriguing, is it?

Here’s to finding the interesting in the mundane with a little different perspective! Happy Friday!
