{Project} Wednesday: Brayering with Faber-Castell Gelatos

Today on Studio SN: Brayering with Faber-Castell Gelatos!

how to brayer with gelatos

Okay, you probably know by now that I love Gelatos from Faber-Castell. These are little pigment sticks of rich color, perfect for creating backgrounds. You can use them dry by simply coloring directly onto the paper, or you can add water for watercolor effects.

In this case, I only used a little water to keep the color as bright as possible. Of course, the more water you use, the more subtle your color will be, so you have lots of options depending on the look you want.

Here’s what you need:

Faber-Castell Gelatos: Lemon Yellow, Cotton Candy

– Brayer

– Water mister

– Craft sheet

– Cardstock: Matte white, black, green

– Blue brads

Paper Doily (Paper Wishes)

– Bicycle sticker: Rad Dad Dazzles™ (Paper Wishes)

– Ribbons: Robin’s Red (Paper Wishes)

Here’s how to do it:

1. Scribble a small area of Lemon Yellow Gelato directly onto your craft sheet. Spritz once with water, then pick up the color with the brayer and brayer it onto white cardstock. Repeat brayering to add as much yellow as you like.

2. Let dry—this will only take a minute. Clean off the brayer and repeat the process to add Cotton Candy to the cardstock piece.

3. Let dry, then mat on green and black cardstock. Add three brads at the top left corner. Glue the doily to the right side. Place the sticker on white cardstock, mat on black and glue to the doily. Wrap with ribbons, then glue to the card front.
