{Project} Wednesday: Cardmaking with Ranger’s Distress Marker Spritzer

Today on Studio SN on You Tube: Cardmaking with Ranger’s Distress Marker Spritzer!

Distress Marker spritzer

This technique is a fun one because you can get such a finely detailed, misted effect that’s really unlike any other. The Distress Marker Spritzer tool is easy to use—just insert your pen into the barrel of the tool and squeeze the handheld bulb to spray color from the tip of the marker onto your paper. You can create entire backgrounds like this, or use a stencil.

Note: The tool does require you to squeeze repeatedly with your hand. If you have hand or wrist trouble difficulties, you may want to pause while spritzing, or use a smaller stencil or only one element from the stencil. As you can see from the video, I had to give myself a bit of a rest as well!

Cardmaking with Ranger’s Distress Marker Spritzer, what you need—

– Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer (Ranger)

– Tim Holtz Distress Markers: Squeezed Lemonade, Broken China, Picked Raspberry (Ranger)

Fancy Feathers stencil (The Crafter’s Workshop)

– Post-it notes, masking or washi tape

– White, purple cardstock

– Patterned papers: Gypsy Jewels (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes)

– Gold brads, lavender washi tape

Cardmaking with Ranger’s Distress Marker Spritzer—how to make it:

  1. Place the stencil on white matte cardstock and mask off areas you don’t want to stencil, using Post-it Notes and masking/washi tape.
  1. Use the Distress Marker Spritzer to first apply Broken China, then Picked Raspberry through the stencil. Finish with Squeezed Lemonade.
  1. Remove the stencil. Trim the stenciled cardstock to size, then mount on purple cardstock. Glue to a card covered with purple patterned paper and add brads in each corner. Note: If you don’t like the brads showing through to the inside of the card, cover the inside with patterned paper or insert the brads in the patterned paper before gluing it to the card front.

Opt for a different effect with the amount of each color you use. Here’s a slightly different version:
