Technique of the Month: Cardmaking with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor

Happy June! This month’s Technique is a fabulously fun one using stencils, embossing powder and the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. Plus—a brayer! (I can’t resist.)

To watch the video, just come over to the Studio SN channel on You Tube and click to watch the Cardmaking with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor video. This video is great, especially if you caught some of my Kuretake demos on Create and Craft and wanted to see more.

Embossing resist with stencil and Kuretake watercolor

Embossing Resist with Kuretake Watercolor, what you need—

Embossing Resist with Kuretake Watercolor, what you need—

  1. Place the stencil onto the cardstock. Tape to secure.
  2. Press the embossing inkpad onto the stencil so the ink goes through the stencil onto the cardstock.
  3. Remove the stencil and sprinkle with embossing powder. Heat set.
  4. Use the waterbrush to color Dark Pink on top of the embossed piece. Let dry.
  5. Use the waterbrush to remove Pink watercolor onto the craft sheet. Create a puddle and run the brayer through the puddle and onto white cardstock. Let dry, then repeat with Lemon Yellow. (Be sure to clean off the brayer!) Let dry.
  6. Mat the top and bottom of the brayered piece on black card. Mat the embossed piece on yellow.  Glue together and wrap with gold ribbon. Glue to the card front.
  7. Stamp the sentiment on white card and glue across the card front. Add the flower, gemstone and bow.
