Alcohol Ink Resin Earrings

Hi friends! Today I have an easy resin project featuring open-back bezels and alcohol ink. Once you’re done making these earrings, if you gift them, you can easily present them on a handmade card, like this—

Let’s start with the earrings!

How to Use Resin with Open-Back Bezels

Unlike other jewelry findings, open-back bezels need a little extra step before you add the resin—namely, you’ll need to create a temporary back. Packing tape will do the trick! Simply place the bezel on the sticky side of a piece of packing tape, and press firmly to ensure the tape is secure along the bezel edges.

Place them on a flat, level surface and have a craft mat or protective sheet underneath. Take care not to touch the tape inside the bezel, as it can leave fingerprints on your finished piece.

Mix your resin and add alcohol ink. I used Ranger’s Coral alcohol ink, along with fine white glitter.

Drizzle the colored resin into the bezel, then let the piece cure. When it’s done, just peel it off the tape and you’re ready to make it into jewelry!

My open-back bezels have loops, so I just added two small jump rings to the top and then attached each bezel to an ear wire. Done!

For gift-giving, you can present them on the front of a handmade card.

How to Make a Handmade Card

I used the Rouge collection from 49 and Market. I cut a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller than the front of my light green card base, and inked the edges with Dove Grey ink.

Then I applied a rub-on to patterned paper.

I placed a frame laser cut on top, using foam tape. Here’s the back:

And the front:

Then I punched two holes in a label and adhered it to the card front with foam tape.

This gets adhered to the card front. The foam tape helps create space for the earrings to hang so they’re easy to remove.

Ta-da! Easy! Whether for you or for a friend, this is an easy project and one that can be adapted to larger open-back bezels as well.

Enjoy!

Announcement! I will be heading out for a couple weeks’ vacation time this summer—so this blog post will be the last one until September. In the meantime, I wish you a wonderful and creative summer holiday!
