{Project} Wednesday: Dimensional Feathers & Flourishes Card

Today on Studio SN: Dimensional Feathers & Flourishes Card!

I love this template and the variety of looks you can create—and of course, what better way to create a fun feather focal than with rich Clearsnap pigment inks (colors designed by my art friend Ann Butler!) and a touch of embossing?

Dimensional Feathers & Flourishes Card, how to make it:

  1. Use the brayer to color the book page with Tangelo, then Berry, then touches of Aquamarine pigment ink. While wet, sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat-set.
  1. Follow the template instructions to create a large and small Eagle Feather. Start with a 3”x6” piece of embossed book page and fold it in half the long way. Align the fold mark of the template with the fold of the paper, then trace the large feather shape. Remove the template and cut out.
  1. Keeping the feather folded, use scissors to cut fringed edges, cutting from the open edge toward the fold.
  1. Unfold the feather. Optional: Cut some of the feather fringes slightly smaller. Ink the edges with Berry, then sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat-set.
  1. Fold the feather in half again and run the Berry ink along the center fold. Heat-set to dry.
  1. Repeat the process to cut a small Eagle Feather shape.
  1. Cut the Quail Plume from green cardstock. Ink heavily with Tangelo, then cover with gold embossing powder and heat-set.
  1. Arrange the three pieces on cream cardstock, then mat on black and red and glue to the front of the card.
  1. Tie a bow in green ribbon and glue, with a red button, to the bottom of the feathers. Stamp “dream” on white cardstock, ink the edges black and glue as shown.
