Recently the Catholic church canonized two past Popes. Catholicism is prevalent here in Poland and one of the Popes—John Paul II—was not only Polish, but also played a role in the fall of communism.
Throughout our neighborhood, windows were filled with posters like this one, showing John Paul II or John XXIII:

Plenty of pilgrims headed to Rome for the ceremony, and Poland (Krakow especially) also received lots of Catholic visitors. Did the news make headlines in your part of the world? If so, how?
