Welcome to Washi Tape Tuesday! Love washi tape? (Or maybe you have a stash that you want to put to use?) Then join me for tips, techniques and ideas for adding washi tape to your handmade cards!

This week I wanted to show something completely different: Washi tape as jewelry.

Pendant using ICE Resin and washi tape

I make a lot of jewelry using ICE Resin. This is a fabulous 2-part resin epoxy that’s super easy to use and gives really professional results. And you can make great wearable pieces for yourself, as gifts or to sell—quickly and easily.

Because you’ll need to mix up at least 1oz of the resin for it to blend properly, I have several pendants on hand ready to fill. That way none of your resin goes to waste.

ICE Resin Pendant with Washi Tape, what you need:

ICE Resin: ICE Resin

Cup and stir stick: ICE Resin

– Metal pendant: Mine is 1 1/2″ in diameter, including the rim. I’ve had this one for ages, so try this for something similar. Of course, you can use any size!

– Black and white stripe washi tape: MT Washi Tape

– Paper: Black, green, book paper

– White acrylic paint, bubble wrap

– Circle punch: I used a 1 3/8″ punch to fit inside my pendant

– Craft sheet, baby wipes

– Chain or cord for the necklace

ICE Resin Pendant with Washi Tape, how to make it:

1. Glue small strips of black and green paper onto a sheet of book paper. Add washi tape on top.

2. Apply white acrylic paint to bubble wrap and “stamp” on top of the paper. Let dry, then punch into a circle shape that fits the size of your pendant.

3. Use stick glue to glue the circle piece into the pendant, taking care that the edges are glued down. Let dry.

4. Mix the resin according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Carefully pour into the bezel, allowing the top to dome a little.

Tip: If you get air bubbles, use a toothpick to gently pop them.

5. Place the pendant in a dust-free area to dry overnight. It will be ready to wear the next day.

6. Add a chain or cord to the pendant.

Easy! And these make fabulous gifts, too.
